Another day in the life of the Hoppers

Snow @ 5am

Well, our day started off at 5am with about an inch of snow, so every school within a 1000 mile radius closed including Chandler and Maddie's daycare.
So I start planning fun things to do with the kids while we were stuck at home (unexpectedly) and then of course we lost power.

So back to the drawing board.. What do you do with two small children with,
by this time almost 6 inches of snow on the ground and no power...Ha
So I broke out my acrylic paints and let them go to town on their coloring pages.. they loved it!

Finally the power came back on, I made them both watch a movie and hoping they would both take a nap.. (HA! didn't work)
Instead they both got their butts popped and had to sit in time out!!
Anyways, the snow was beautfiul while it lasted but I am extremely ready for Spring weather!

Prayers and Praises

Ya'll please say a prayer for my Pawpaw Charles which is my dad's dad. He's been sick for a week or so and last night began having trouble breathing. My aunt Kathy and grandmother had to MAKE him go to the ER at Memorial and they found a large "mass" on his lung or lymphnodes that is inoperable. They are going to try and shrink it because it is putting pressure on the main artery that brings the blood flow back to his heart. Right now he is in ICU at Memorial, so please please pray for my family! Thank you.

Also say a prayer for Maddie, we went back to the doctor yesterday due to her still coughing after 12 days on antibiotics and she now has pneumonia! It's not that bad because of her being on the antibiotics already but now she's having to take an albuterol inhaler 4 times a day and really strong antibiotics along with mucinex. Bless her heart... she acts just fine though and doesn't seem sick at all other than the cough!

Last but not least, Hanna may get to come home this week if she continues to improve! Thank you Jesus!

Please Pray for Hanna

Several of you may remember me requesting your prayers for one of my besties (Jayda) and her little girl, Hanna. Hanna was diagnosed with the Swine Flu awhile back and spent over a week in ICU at TC Thompson's. She was released to go home after her brain stopped swelling but she continued to have seizures. They put her on an anti-seizure medication and she was to continue following up with her neurologist over the next six months. Last week she began to run a fever and her mother took her back to the doctor and she was givin a Z-Pack and sent home. Saturday she was admitted to TC Thompson's emergency and later diagnosed as having Stevens Johnson Syndrome. This syndrome is caused by a severe allergic reaction to medication and in this case it was to the anti-seizure medication she was given from complications of the swine flu. I'm begging all of you to please pray for this family, they said it could be 2 weeks or up to even 2 months before she is well. Monday was her 10th birthday and she is a very sick little girl and I cannot imagine what Jayda must be going through right now, but I do know that God has a plan for everything. I was able to go and see her yesterday and take her a goody bag full of Hannah Montana treats for when she is feeling better, and my heart just melted when I seen her.
****************UPDATE***********************
Hanna is still struggling with the complications of having fluid on her heart and lungs but she has improved greatly and I want to thank all of you who have been praying! They may let her come home this week if she continues doing so well!! :)

Cookin' Up A FairyTale....

Well here are the two most precious little people in my life, all dressed up for their Hallelujah Party at school today! Aren't they just the sweetest??? This is not actually what they will be for Halloween or Trunk or Treat but just some of their playful outfits that they occasionally dress up in but I thought it was cute for daycare and I don't have to worry about them totally destroying them before they get home! :)

We FOUND Nemo!!!

I took the kids to Disney on Ice "Finding Nemo" Wednesday nite with my cousin Amy and her little boy Andrew who is about two months younger than Chandler. They absolutely loved it! Maddie had to have a Nemo cup full of slush and Chandler picked out the Shark and poor Andrew dumped a whole cup of slush in his lap during the show! We all left wearing tyedyed clothing, Thanks to Nemo and the Shark but it's a cute little souvenir. I didn't get any good pictures of the show or the kids... but thought it would be funny to show the attempts I made! Thursday morning when I dropped the kids off at daycare, Chandler ran to his Pre-K teacher and said, "We Found Nemo!!!!"

Wall Mural

The mural is painted in Hillevi's (mother-in-law) hallway where they enter from the garage into their kitchen area. She had been begging me to do this very mural in their foyer waaaaaayyyyy up high on a big wall overlooking their stairs but i'm afraid of heights and said no. So last week she came in and told me she found a place for it and when could I do it.. ya'll know she's OCD and she meant, can you do it RIGHT NOW! I told her no again but that I would go ahead and get the supplies for when I do get the chance. Well since I'm off on Wednesdays, it seemed to be perfect! It took me about 3 1/2 hours to do the tree, leaves, bird and the words. Then last night, I went back and added the rest of the grass, a squirrel, the worm in the birds mouth and the detail to the leaves and it took another 2 1/2 hours. I must say, i'm very pleased with the outcome. And yes Hillevi absolutely loves it too! And i've already got two more murals that i'm planning on doing for some different people in the area!!

Flu Shot....Or Not??

Let me just start by saying that my children and I have never had a flu shot for regular seasonal flu....So I guess my question would be, how important is it to you to make your children get the flu shot every year? Also, if you were in my shoes, would you still get the new h1n1 flu shot when available in october? It's questionable to me. I feel like this whole "swine flu" pandemic has been totally blown out of porportion and I don't know what to believe anymore. I'm still waiting on the kiddo's doctor to call me back with his answer to all of these questions, but I thought I would share and see what you guys thought. Thanks! :)
